Providing comprehensive, compassionate, victim-focused services to meet the needs of victims of crime, including sexual violence survivors, who reside in or were victimized in Orange County, Florida.
Advocates at the Victim Service Center and Sexual Assault Treatment Center work together with the crime survivor to help them recover from the trauma they have experienced.
The Advocate will assist the survivor in the recovery process, helping them regain a sense of power and safety while reducing feelings of helplessness and fear that often follow crime victimization.
Advocates offer emotional support, education, information and advocacy to individuals in crisis as a result of the crime.
The Advocate will assist the survivor in processing their emotional and physical response to the crime. The Advocate will collaborate with the victim/survivor to develop their own goals and objectives on the path to recovery, identifying sources of support and assistance. The Advocate will provide referrals to other services in the community that best serve the victim/survivor's immediate and long-term goals.
Recovery from the trauma of crime is a unique process for each individual. The Center recognizes and honors each survivor's individual recovery process, and works towards providing support and empowerment during this difficult time.
