Every 90 seconds someone in the United States is the victim of sexual assault and 44% of those victims are boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18. This sobering information led the Victim Service Center and Michelee Puppets to collaborate in the development of an informative play, "Every 90 Seconds".

This live theatrical presentation by the actors of  Michelee Puppets addresses issues of dating violence, acquaintance rape, and sexual abuse in a factual and honest way.

Helping students understand healthy relationship behavior, power and control dynamics,  personal boundaries and assertively saying no is the focus of the play.

Thanks to funding from the Women's Resource Center, in 2008 twenty-four presentations of Every 90 Seconds are available free to Orange County High Schools.

If you represent a school in Orange County please contact Amy Schwartz at Michelee Puppets (407-898-7925) for scheduling information.

April 2008

Each year the National Sexual Violence Resource Center develops a campaign to focus on sexual violence and its prevention during the month of April. The theme for 2008's campaign is Prevent Sexual Violence in Our Workplace. In addition, Thursday, April 3, 2008 has been designated as this years Sexual Assault Awareness Month Day of Action.

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month the Victim Service Center is providing outreach and education to Orange County residents in a multitude of ways. This month our advocates will be visiting local colleges and universities to provide information, resources and support to students. In addition, each of our five advocates will be visiting a total of over 100 local hair salons to distribute information regarding sexual violence and the services our agency can provide to sexual assault survivors.

For more information regarding Sexual Violence Awareness Month or to schedule a presentation please contact Danielle McIntyre at 407-228-6050.
